Whimsy is…

easily distracted

a CARDINALS fan

and I don’t mean one of those “well, this team is the closest to me, so I’ll root for them” kind of fans. More along the borderline creepy “feeling like they are almost family” type of fan.

Cardinals baseball is a BIG deal in my family. (Imagine my dismay when I married a man who doesn’t like baseball AT ALL - I didn’t know that was possible) It’s quite possible my grandma would usher you out of her house if you bad mouthed the Cards. (She may not even take time to get in her wheel chair. She’s fiesty like that)

Last Thursday, (WHEN WE CLINCHED THE PENNANT) it was kinda cool knowing that my grandma, dad, sister, uncles, cousins etc. were all watching the game at the same time. Friday our phonelines where all a buzz talking to each other.

If you love a good underdog story, this years world series is for you. If I didn’t want the Cards to win with all my heart, I would totally be cheering for the Tigers. 2 weeks ago, both teams were written off, but here we are. Getting ready to meet for game 1 tonight. The managers are lifelong friends and everyone involved is looking forward to good enjoyable baseball!

I must admit that I am pleased that DH is out of town tonight. That means I can have the game on in the living room. Normally, I have it on in the bedroom, listen to it on headphones in the LR with DH and just run in there to see the great plays. Radio is about a minute ahead of satellite, so it works out pretty good. Tonight though is all about sock knitting and baseball cheering. All from the comfort of DH’s big recliner.

I don’t know what is up with my big girls. They are 13 and STILL not feeling the Cardinal love. To say that my family feels I have failed as a parent is an understatement. I blame it on their dad.

I really want a cool “go Cards” image to put here, but darn it if I can find one. I may have to brush off Paint Shop (that I should be using for work this weekend anyway) and make one myself. Until then, here’s an image that is the property of MLB, but I think it’s OK to use it. (even without express written consent) *little snicker to myself*
You can click on the pic to go to a page where you can purchase prints of the image. (I hope that smoothes it over with office of the commissioner)

  1. […] DH and the boy ran off to Kentucky last night for some mule event. As happy as I was to have total control of the TV and recliner to watch the game (that we so totally WON) I am missing them. […]
