coming clean
This isn’t a new theme in my life. God has been dealing with me about this for, well, as long as I can remember.
I’m not a good housekeeper. Not a decent housekeeper. Not even an acceptable one. The crazy thing is, I work hard at it. Because of my poor habits, I do three times as much work as I should.
I will wash clothes, hang them out on the line (taking time to make sure hems are straight, etc) bring them in and leave them to sit in a basket. Then dear family starts digging through them (because there is not just ONE basket of this type in our home) It’s very much like a puppy digging for a bone. Clothes are flung every which way. They may remain there for several days getting stepped on and redirtied. Which, of course, means I have to pick them up, resort, rewash, redry and sad to say, leave them in the basket. Never ending cycle.
That’s just one example. It repeats itself in every aspect of our home.
It’s out of control.
This makes my home a very unhappy place.
I aim to change that.
So I will be blogging about my progress. It will make a dedicated category for it. (COMING CLEAN)
If any of you deal with similiar habits, I may have tips that will come in handy. Things I am embarrassed to have to deal with, but deal with them I must.
Anyone with me?
Yup, I’m exactly the same. Except for the working hard part. I’ve become more of an “ostrich” lately…burying my head in the sand, pretending not to see the mess. Of course, even with my eyes closed, I know it’s there. It really affects me mentally. I have one really bad room, my computer room. It has become the catch-all room, because it is right off the garage. We have stacks of boxes yet unpacked from the move last year, and when we bring one in to search through, it gets piled in here. It’s pretty bad. Also, both my husband and I will eat lunches or snacks in here, and forget to bring the plates upstairs. So half our plates and silverware are “missing”…in the computer room. I cleaned up just the trash in this room the other day, and it filled a trash bag–and not a kitchen sized bag, either! Yikes. If I can use your post as inspiration, maybe I’ll get off my duff and clean this room up!
We cleaned off our front (enclosed) porch this weekend. I could NOT believe the things we found out there. It is the landing place for everything that needs to come out of the Suburban and into the house. It was like a treasure hunt!
