cleaning her carpet
One of the best investments I ever made was buying a carpet cleaner. It’s looking pretty sad and ragged (when our dog was a puppy, she chewed through the cord, but DH rewired it for me) but it still does a good job. (if you hold it just right and know where to kick it sometimes)
I should probably mention that at it’s cleanest point, my LR carpet is still probably dirtier than most people’s dirty carpets. It’s old and cheap and hasn’t been vaccumed regularly. (Like you’re surprised - it’s me we’re talking about here) We should have replaced the pad when we had it installed, but we were trying to save a few pennies. So it seems like the more stuff I suck out of the carpet, the more dirt the carpet sucks out of the pad.
I would LOVE to rip it all up and paint the floor, but DH is NOT on board with that at all. I don’t see new carpet in our future here, because I hope we will be selling this house soon. We will be selling it as a fixer-upper (hmm… that’s how we bought it too - it just never got done) and I’m sure they will want to rip it out anyway.
For some reason, I actually enjoy cleaning them. I think it’s seeing the evidence of effort. I like seeing where I’ve been. Even if it’s just for a liitle bit until new stains are pulled up from underneath.
Hi! Thanks for commenting on my blog. LOL, I too find carpet-cleaning very satisfying! Something about that tangible result of seeing it go from stained to clean (at least temporarily)!
I just did my TV room and then the stairs, and then seeing how nice that all looked I couldn’t possibly not do the rest of the front room……it’s like an addiction or something!
Boy is it satisfying to see all that clean carpet, and to dump all that filthy water!
